Coping with the stress.

Had one of my 'worrying' days today when I go over the figures in my head again and again and generally feel Cr*p about how much debt we need to pay off BUT I have turned a corner...
Previously I would have just stressed all day and focussed on the negatives but today I sat down at my laptop and looked at our 'get out of debt plan'. It reminded me that in 30 months it should all be gone (40Kish ) and it could be sooner with a few tweaks and another 0% deal!!
Gonna try really hard to not focus too much on the top line for the next few months and try to keep up the payments without thinking about it all day everyday. £6500 should be gone by Christmas and we have money saved to pay for Christmas so this year should be a much more positive, debt-stress free Christmas!!
Hope everyone else if having a good day today

I can relate to this!
The one thing I keep telling myself is that it is only going to get easier as the months go by- with every monthly payment there is a bit paid off the CC and therefore a bit more to use to pay more off the following month.
I too have been finding that I think about our debts all day everyday BUT at the moment I think that is no bad thing, a bit of focus seems to go a long way. It's when I'm not thinking about it that things have and will slip so I am embracing the worry for now!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061
Current Debt- £3600
Mortgage Offset Savings- £600
90.5% paid off so far...0 -
Have you got a 'milestone' coming up soon? One more card paid off say? Or a big debt getting down to 'only' 10k?
It's good to celebrate the small wins along the way. Of course I mean a cup of tea and a packet of Jaffa cakes...0 -

Hi - I should settle a few of the small debts this month so it will be nice to have fewer creditors to think about.
We should have paid off around 10K by March so that will be a big milestone as it's 25% of our total debt paid off!!0 -

I agree that some stress keeps us on our toes, it's just that mine has a habit of consuming me and dragging me down. Working hard on staying positive and keeping things in perspective0 -
All consuming stress never a good thing, sounds like you are doing brilliantly though so plenty to feel positive about :beer:Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

I always have a debt free, stress free, Christmas, simply by not spending what I haven't got or cannot afford.
And purely as a warning to others, Christmas this year will be on 25th December. That's 25th December, folks! Just four months and five days away. Just in case it sneaks up and catches anyone by surprise, which it seems to do every year judging by the posts on here year after year.
