Upgrading a Sun 9.99 holiday

We booked a so-called £9.99 through the sun for a weekend in Fleetwood with Haven. Now, it never works out to be £9.99, but we knew that and that isn't the issue we have.

We decided to upgrade to a larger Caravan (mainly for the heating - we are going in October). We had received a PDF leaflet with our booking detailing the costs and urging the use of a tear-off slip to upgrade. Now, the upgrade cost was (in very small letters) "From" and then £5.50 per person, per night. I personally hate such tactics, but it is a part of life these days, but that isn't my issue. My issue is that after filling out the enclosed form with the only price given (as in I wrote on the form £66 for the upgrade), and returning it with a cheque they cash the cheque and send a bill for another £22 not explaining what it was for. I believe it is inexcusable to cash a cheque for a product that you give only incorrect pricing and they can clearly see is believed to be less than they wish to charge. How easy would it be to supply the correct price or even when the booking comes in, just give a quick call to let you know? I think it is shocking that Haven operate in such an underhanded way! Think of the number of people that think they are treating the family, only to find out they can't afford it.

Anyway, I was confused by there pricing as it was all done per person, per night. So the £88 they wished to charge for the three night upgrade was £7.3333333 (recurring) per person, per night! This was confirmed by Haven. How can they operate such a pricing policy? Bizarre!

My main gripe is that, despite the fact it is still such good value, why do they have to be so underhanded with the way they charge all the mandatory and optional extras? We aren't stupid - just give us a price list!
