How to reason out of a PCN? Upset

A torrid end to the day, I live near a mosque where every friday, it gets busy and my road is all occupied, I came back from work (care worker) to have something to eat and had to park on the road round the corner but that was full too so I parked on a pair of double yellow lines because A) Those lines shouldn't be there
If people from the mosque usually park their cars in masses, they get away with it C) I live here! And within 40mins of me having to go back to work, I had a ticket on my dashboard. Fine I was wrong to park there but a ticket is harsh when I am living here and cannot park next to my home because these people need to visit their place of worship. I pay my council taxes!
To make it worse, I found out another worker doing the same job as me gets paid twice as much as me by his employer, cherry to the pudding!
Can I argue a case against the PCN and anyone been successful?

No, in my view, you blatantly and knowingly parked on double yellows.
On what basis do you say they shouldn't be there?
Did you challenge them when the traffic regulation order was made?
even if you did, clearly your challenge was not upheld as otherwise they shouldn't be there.0 -
...... Fine I was wrong to park there .....
You said it, so you have to pay up.0 -
Looks as if the traffic wardens agreed with you over B and decided to do something about people parking illegally.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

But if you want helpful advice pop over to pepipoo.com. This forum deals with private Parkin charge notices, not council ones.they will be able to advise you there if there is any hope. If it had been a private ticket we would not have condoned the action, but we would have tried to help.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. No, no one has an absolute right to park outside their doorstep, if this is a problem, buy a house with parking, or get rid of your car.lYou never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Have to agree with this.
If there is such a problem with Mosque parking then ask you council to install a residents parking scheme. You'll have to pay a yearly fee but it will stop the Mosque parking."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0 -
The assumption being made here is that this is a council issued PCN (Penalty charge notice) can we confirm that this is not a privately issued PCN ( Parking charge notice)From the Plain Language Commission:

On a road with double yellow lines sounds like a council issued ticket to me.
I suggest you talk to your local councillors about getting a res park scheme installed if mosque parking is a serious problem for you and your neighbours.
And pay the ticket before it goes up!0 -

The ticket does not go up. its a discount to try and get people to cough up, there is a difference!
The OP should go to Pepipoo to get expert advice as obviously some on here don't know about council ticketsWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Ignoring the semantics, you can either pay £X now or more if you leave it. Going up or losing the discount, who cares what it is called?
The poster hasn't said anything to suggest there is even a faint chance of a successful appeal to the council.0
