Anything Make Butter Rice?

I was teached to cook rice with butter and add a bit of curry powder to turn the rice a different colour and give it a bit of flavour..

Anyone else tried it?

I sometimes put a stock cube in the water when boiling rice. That makes a nice change.

yes! all the time! i melt butter in a shallow pan and coat the rice in it then throw in hot stock, bung the lid on, and its done within 8 mins of simmering :) perfectly fluffy every time! sometimes i let it cool and then fry up with eggs n left overs etc.

if i dont use stock to cook the rice i'll add a teaspoon of of turmeric, a couple of bay leaves and some cardamon pods instead. i cant actually remember the last time i just had plain white rice tbh! :)

I haven't tried that, but I've added turmeric for a little colour, a few cardamoms, a touch of cumin, and it tastes good.

my mum always cooks turmeric rice - not just for the colour - has a little bit more flavour than white rice.

I usually add something to rice too - salt, a few cardamom pods, a bay leaf, and a bit of cinnamon stick (the cinnamon sticks I get the big bags of in the World Foods aisle, bay leaves can be bought cheaply off ebay - the spice shelves in supermarkets are not always good value for money).

I've never thought of using butter and turmeric, it sounds lovely and I might give that a go!
