I hope someone can help.

My elderly aunt has lived in the same rented accommodation for 14 years. She has never had the gas meter is the clock type and she cannot read it herself.
I have had 3 meters during this time.
Any reason for the difference as I live just down the road?

Depends on the meter type and how long it's certified for.

The supplier may be able to move the meter, or provide a 3-monthly meter reading visit. Contact the supplier's elderly/vulnerable customer support unit.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

I have lived in the same place for 20 years and never had the meter replaced. I have no idea how long they are supposed to last.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
