So, i've graduated and the year off begins. As if 16 years of education wasn't enough i'm looking to do a course in web programming. If i'm to get work in this field for a few months ideally i'd like it to have certification of some sort. I'm not looking to do a masters in this (just yet) but something i can do during the summer that will give me enough to try and get intern work in web design, web applications etc.
any ideas?

find a local business.. offer to do a web database for them...
I managed to learn php/mysql over the course of about a month pretty well, having previously no experience in database design0 -
Plenty of online resources, especially php have a look on their site. Would also reccomend having a look at ruby on rails (RoR/rails).0

I'd say the best way to learn about it is buy a couple of decent books and set out to build a site. Host it and show it to prospective employers - it'll make it a lot easier for them to judge your skills that way rather than by presenting a certificate as they see what you're actually able to do. A certificate doesn't tell you much, whereas the ability to look at someone's code does (and yes, I'm a programmer/software engineer by trade).0
