Composite or uPVC door?

I have narrowed it down to two front doors I like - one is a white one with two glass panels and the other is a chartwell green composite door.
Trouble is I don't know whether one is technically better than the other. Is there a big difference in quality of the composite one as its £300 more expensive?
Also the double glazing man said not to go for a blue or red door as I ran the risk of people not buying the house because it didn't match with their football team. This sounds silly to me - is this actually plausible?!!

I know a Liverpool fan that would never have a blue car, people do strange things!#
I bought composite doors last year after my PVCu door was broken into very very easily - once I'd seen what they did, it made me realise I could take up housebreaking myelf. I ended up with Rockfit doors, which are supposed to be the dogs in terms of security and I must say they look an awful smarter better than the PVCu ever did.0 -
Composite doors are more stable than uPVC which tend to expand in the hot weather leading to locking problems.
I ended up going for a nice black one with prairie glass, goes with anything. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I went for black as well penrhyn, had the back door done to match. They are supposed to be very durable as well.

I've got a quote of £1,279 for a door and 2 window panels either side. Does this sound about right or too expensive? I've never bouoght a door before so have no idea. Its an Xtreme door, chartwell green with a half moon window at the top (this is the only glass panel in the door).0

Sounds to be in the right ball park, are you having a knocker c/w spy hole, great fun! That gum you like is coming back in style.0

knocker yes but no spyhole. Seems like I will be missing out on the fun! Doors are so expensive!0

Has anybody else bought a composite door? How much did you pay? £1,279 is a lot of money for me so want to make sure I am not being ripped off.0

that is a lot of money I bought two fitted for little more than that last year
yale doors sell a standard composite door on-line for around £550.00 so you are paying a lot for fitting
just seen you need two windows so that will cost more than a standard door0
