Garden Redesign Costs

Hi all,

I know that the cost of garden redesign is likely to vary enormously depending on what the requirement is and where you are in the country. However, if anyone has any experience with this, would you be able to share how much it cost you, what work was done, maybe size of the garden and where you are in the country?

I called some garden designers. Just the design quote costs between £200 to £1,200 depending on where you go, so I am not really sure what it will then cost to implement the design. I am obviously looking to keep the cost down as much as possible but our garden is a mess. Not looking for anything overly fancy but it is nice to be able to sit in the garden without having to worry about XYZ you need to do to sort it out.

I am not a big gardening type. Neither is my husband, so DIY is out of the question

I was quoted £10,000 for a full design and the makeover of a back garden, size just under 100 sq/m.

I ended up designing it myself, just picked up some 2nd hand books from Amazon from the likes of Tony Lord, Rosemary Verey, John Brookes for ideas, the used a spray can of marker paint to lay out to see how it would work and what areas would get the sun etc. to try different designs

I reckon it cost me £1,750 by doing most of the work myself (inc. learning bricklaying!). That cost was for skip and equipment hire, 1 tonne bags of topsoil, bricks and slate and plants and I paid £400 to have professional landscapers lift and returf the lawn.
