"dodgy" switched sockets

I started a thread a few days ago about our Neff oven, and the fact that it was switching itself off, or failing to come on at all.
Yesterday howere, I was just about to take the oven out of its housing to take it apart, when I thought that I would switch it on and off before cutting the power.
As I switched it on, the display went on, flickered for a couple of seconds, then went off. I then tried it again, this time more slowly, and there was a point where the switch was working.
We had our kitchen renovated about five years ago, and the electrician replaced a few switched sockets. One of the switched sockets failed completely within a couple of months.
I don't want to call the electrician back again, because I am not happy with his work, and this is a fairly cheap thing to fix.
My question is this:
Has anyone else had switched sockets fail, and if so, what is a good make to replace them with.

Yes, I've had cheap/unbranded switched sockets fail. I normally use MK branded sockets and switches, but that's just personal preference - any good quality well known brand should be fine.
I'm not an expert, but I'm sure that a common reason for the switch contacts to fail is when they are handling more current than they were designed to do - is the current being drawn through this socket within the designed tolerance?0 -
Single oven - 13amp supply.
The hob has a seperate 30amp supply.
They have individual tripouts on the consumer supply.0 -
As above - use MK or Crabtree
I've had to replace failing sockets and switches before, and yep, you guessed it, they were cheap own branded stuff.
