I think my friend or his brother have stolen something from me. What do I do?

I really don't know how to go about this. Basically, I went to visit my friend yesterday and I took a small USB stick round there too. My friend's brother asked if I had a specific t.v. show on there, which I wasn't sure that I put on there. Anyway, I put the USB in the back of his t.v. and searched through it to see what I had on it. I am fairly positive that I left it in his t.v. and forgot to take it with me. The thing is, I can't find it anywhere at home and I asked my friend, but he says he hasn't seen it, and neither has his brother. I went there today to visit and sneakily looked in the back of the t.v. but it wasn't there. I don't want to start throwing accusations at people, but the USB stick has disappeared and I can only think it's someone in their home, and those two are main suspects. I think it's a sh*tty thing to do (if they have stole it) and I feel ashamed/upset/disappointed that any one of them would steal something from me. I don't have many close friends as it is, so for a close friend (that goes for both of them) to do something like that is very disrespectful.

How sure is 'fairly positive'?
Did you have a bag with you or was it in your pocket? Have you asked them to check down the side of the sofa in case it fell out of your pocket? Have you checked around your own home - in your laundry basket, under the bed etc?
If you accuse one or both of them of stealing then your friendship is over. Only you can know/decide how sure you are and if that means your friendship is already over.0 -
USB sticks are easily lost, esp the smaller ones these days!
To be honest, for the price of them these days, I would forget about it and get yourself a new one. I attached mine to my key chain and have had it for years and always with me!0 -
You could just have easily have dropped in on the way home or stuck it in a pocket somewhere. Seems a bit of an over the top reaction to me - "I've lost something, one of my friends much have nicked it". Unless you've got some very dodgy friends. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
USB sticks are pretty tiny and easily lost. They're also quite cheap, so unless it contains the only copy of your PHD thesis its not worth making a fuss about IMO.0

Have you asked them about it, before you decided to snoop around?
Maybe they or someone else in the house has put it somewhere safe for you and just forgot about it when you went backKate short for Bob.

Well I was trying to remember if I took it out from the back of their t.v, but I don't think I did. I am not 100% positive it's been stolen, and I'm forgetful as of late, but I just can't seem to remember taking it out from the t.v.
If I did take it out, I would have put it in my shirt pocket or my jeans' pockets. I have checked my shirt pockets from yesterday, the jeans I wore yesterday, and my gym bag I took with me, but nothing.0 -
My friend's brother asked me today if I had the USB on me. I was wondering why he would ask that. Is he trying to come across as clueless, but knows he stole it, or does he genuinely have no idea and was curious to know if I had it?
I will check more thoroughly, but I just don't remember clearly enough, taking it with me.0 -

It might seem OTT, but I know my friend uses up his USB space fast and his brother has not got one, so it does make me dubious tbh.0 -
Are you usually this paranoid?0

Christ almighty. Yes it IS an OTT reaction. In fact, it's a ridiculous reaction. Just buy a new one !!!!!!.
Did you seriously need to start a thread on a national forum about it? Jeeeez! Get a grip. Talk about first world problems.
I am even questioning whether this actually happened.
