You will need to inform them that you have a job. You do not have to close the claim down.
There is a £20 a week disregard on your wages. The remainder will be deducted from your ESA claim. This will happen during term time. During the school holidays you will be assessed as having no income so make sure you notify them of all the change of circumstances. (keep a note of the dates/times and person you speak to - get a receipt and keep it for your pay slips.)
Is you partner on contribution based ESA?0 -
thanks for reply , im not sure what esa we r on sorry0

You will be on income based because it is a joint claim.
However, before you were added to your partner's claim he may have been on contribution based ESA.
Not to worry, just inform them of the change of circumstances and they will sort it out.0 -
Just to be pedantic, there is no such thing as a "joint ESA" claim.
You don't have a claim anymore.
Your partner has a claim for ESA IR.
If you start work *your partner* will have to phone ESA and inform them straight away, to avoid an overpayment, if he does not inform them before an overpayment occurs he will recieve a £50 penalty on top of repaying the overpayment.
He will not have to close the claim, he will have to supply your wage slips and there will be a delay in his payments for a while, but eventually he will continue to get paid ESA and your earnings will be deducted with a £20 disregard.0
