ebayer claiming no knowledge of bidding!

hello guys,
i have been reading for a few weeks now this ebay forum, thinking some people are very unfortunate with their auctions, and now its my turn!

i had an item which received a last minute bid, and i was happy. i was a bit miffed that the seller had 0 feedback (no feedback at all) but wasnt too wary as they registered in sept 06, and of course i wouldnt send until i got paid. seven days passed and after a few emails to which i received no reply, i put in an unpaid item dispute. that was yesterday.

i have just received a response from the person (why she never replied to me, but did as soon as i took action is a bit suspect), here it is:
i have never bidded for these items. i know nothing about them. im a girl y would i want a sub?? i have changed my ebay password now so this cant happen again. sorry

im not so fussed about this to be honest, ill just relist it. but i am a bit peeved that if i settle the dispute i dont get my fees back! is there anyway i can get my fees back if i settle this?

what would you do? advice please!

Id file a NPB dispute. Items dont just bid on themselves. Ive seen people blaming all kinds of things/people for bidding. Its usually buyers remorse.

You can though file a NPB and list the reason as a mutual cancellation, that way you get your fees back :)

NO NO don't let the buyer off, if she has a problem with her security then she needs to take this up with ebay, not expect you to take the loss of your fees.

Wait until the NPB dispute can be closed properly and put a strike on her acocunt and get your fees back. What i would normally do in this circumstances would be to email back and say you are sorry to hear she has a problem with her security and maybe she can talk to ebay to work out how to protect herself from this happening in future. However, as she will appreciate you need to reclaim your fees and so will close the dispute appropriately.

Then 24 hours later close the dispute. if you choos enot to go for the mutual option then you can relist the option from the original auction and your second set of basic listing fees will be repaid if the item sells again. You'll also get your FVFs back.

cheers for the advice soolin, you know your stuff.
unfortunately i had already mutually agreed cos i just wanted my listing fees and relist it for 10p! i have had an email and have a guy coming to collect the item cash in hand tonight so its all worked out as far as im concerned now :)

so did i lose out on some cash here choosing this option? i wont worry as itll be a matter of 30p or something, but if this is the case i will take this course soolin has suggested in future (fingers crossed it doesnt happen again)

Mutuals only turn out badly if the not-quite-buyer chooses not to cooperate. Ohh... and it means no strike.

You'd know about it if she had disagreed with the dispute.

okay so as the poster states above, if the mutual isnt returned then it looks like ill never get my fvf back. what could i do in this case? it has only been six days and i sent a gentle reminder through the dispute panel today saying she should accept the mutual close. is there anything else i can do or am i stuck in fvf limbo for(seemingly)ever?

They don't have to respond to enable you to get your fees back - I'm kicking myself for allowing a buyer a mutual, he never bothered responding and even though I've got my fees back - he has got off scot free. I closed the dispute dead on 7 days and was refunded fees straight away.

okay a week since dispute was opened, and the buyer still has not mutually agreed to end it, which means my fvfs are eligible but not granted. how can i move this on or is it totally down to the buyer? :(
