Mine all had the Natwest one aged 11 - no overdraft, use the hole in the wall just like a grown up account - and they have stayed with the bank ever since.0

Sounds like the Splash card I had years ago

It did me well!

I've ordered one for my 10yr old, he can't yet open a bank account and we don't have a Natwest locally here where I am in Scotland so I think it'll be great to give him some freedom and start learning about managing money. He already meets his friends at our local shopping centre whilst I have a coffee so no need for him to have to wait another year or more before having access to his own money.0

I have an 8 year old Daughter (So cant get a high Street account yet) but she has had an Osper for about 2 months now, I have to say its working even better then I imagined.
I have set up an "allowance" and she knows that if there is any "treat" she wants she is expected to pay for it her self, this includes Magazines, sweets when shopping e.t.c.
A really unexpected result last month was on a trip to Euro Disney, when in the shop she was looking at the many things she wanted. "Daddy aren't things in Disney Expensive", "Yes they are" was of course the reply and the purchase of a small pad and a Pencil was made instead of the very expensive Dress / Night dress which was being looked at.
Interestingly the whole "Exchange rate" also came up and although maybe she does not have the knowledge to settle the Greek issue yet, she certainly got to grip with her "English" money being worth more in numerical value to her "French" money.0 -
My 10 year old loves her card, she said it makes her feel all grown up! She's just started meeting her friends in town whilst I have a drink so loves using it. I'm happier she has that rather than cash too.
The other good thing is you can choose not to have it able to buy anything on line. Also a few cash withdrawals per month are free, some of the others charge!
She's also made about £20 on referrals as you get a fiver if a friend gets one via your link!0
