Alton Towers or Thorpe Park

Evening everyone,
A group of friend of mine (4 of us in total) want to visit a theme park on 5th of July. We live in Leicester and need to rely on public transport to get us there. I understand that we have to take a bus from the nearest train station to reach Alton Towers or Thorpe Park. Does anyone know the frequency of the buses? Which one would be easier to go to from Leicester?
Thank you in advance

Alton Towers will be closer for you.
Looks like get the train from Leicester to Derby, then Derby to Uttoxeter, then you get a bus from Uttoxeter station to Alton Towers taking 20 mins. Looks like the bus runs every hour. http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/staffordshire_cheshire/journey_planning/timetables/timetable.php?day=1&source_id=2&service=32/32A&routeid=9961781&operator=21&source=sp0 -
Alton Towers is way better than Thorpe Park as well as it is much larger. Went there last week and Thorpe Park was packed, especially with school trips. 2 hour wait for the new ride.0

If you have an iphone or android phone don't forget to download the Alton Towers app. Gives you some minor discounts at a couple of the food outlets, but the main useful feature is live queue times. You can also set alerts for when queue times drop below a certain time.0
