hi all... i wonder if you can help me again  I sold an item on ebay 20/jun and the buyer payed through cheque... i banked the cheque and waited for clearance... now i sent the item recorded delivery 28/jun just before the postal strike.
Now the buyer contacted me on 6/jul saying they havent recived the item. Upon checking online (tracking number) it states they are still trying to post it blah blah blah... I emailed that day to ask if she can go to her sorting office to see if its there, if its not i will refund... No reply I then sent another email (monday) saying if it hasnt tracked/arrived/been recived i will refund thursday/friday... No reply
So its thursday do i offer her a refund... she payed through cheque... do i offer her a refund as a cheque? I have done refunds before but as paypal payments Also then how could i investigate and claim from royal mail? (item price £4.20 ~ buyer payed postage £2.00 ~ real postage cost £1.40)
Thanks in advance

I would expect as a customer, that I recieve a cheque / or maybe a postal order as a refund.
I have a similar thing happening to me. I posted the day after the strike on the 2nd of July. Reacorded signed for and it has still not arrived, and I am getting the same message grrr. It is really annoying.
Isuppose if they employed honest staff (no saying all staff are dishonest), they would not have to be striking as they would have the money that they are paying out on compensation for things going missing! The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!0 -
With RM you have to wait 15 working days I think before it can be considered lost.
As to the buyer, wait for a reply first saying they haven't got the item yet. Then send a cheque or PO back to them.0
