Help for new seller

Hi there, can anyone advise what they'd do in my position? I'm new to selling and last week sold this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMESO%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260135413209&rd=1&rd=1
I've had a message form the buyer this morning saying it's too big for her, even though she usually takes a size 34G, and asking can she return it. My first reaction is no, but what do you experienced ebayers think?
Thnaks for reading.

Not being funny, but when you said in the listing it was too big for you, does that mean you bought the size too big, or that the size didn't match the label? My TV is broken!

No, I meant I was a 34F, but liked it so much I bought it hoping it might just fit.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Well, you're not obliged to return it if it was as you described it. If you're feeling generous and you don't mind relisting it, you could get her to send it back then refund her minus postage + fees... then sell it again. I suggest you make this clear: 'Dear Buyer, If you return the item I will refund you the cost less my postage expenses and ebay fees.' Explain if necessary that you're not a business, all items are described in good faith, and you don't normally accept refunds. If she's got a problem with you deducting the money, suggest she sells it on herself.
Sounds like she's an optimist too

Thanks Fay, I'll do that. I think I need to add a tag on my descriptions stating I don't accept returns because clothes don't fit.
I'm not feeling especially generous - if I buy something that doesn't fit, I just think "hey ho", but seeing as I'm new and learning, I'll do what you suggest.
Thanks again, much appreciated.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -

Be careful here alot of the stuff in places like TK Maxx are there because the label size bears no relation to the actual size of the item. Just be sure that the size you quote is a good estimate of the actual size regardless of what the label says.0 -
Without being an expert on clothes sizing, I can't really say much other than what's on the label. I sold it in good faith, and it fitted me on the back but was slightly too big in the cup, so I could only assume it was (and who says it isn't?) correctly sized.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Just to add a spanner to the works...if the buyer negs you that negative may well seriously harm your future sales as your overall score will be below that which inspires confidence. It doesn't matter whether or not negs are justified or not, but dropping below 98% looks bad.
It might be worth refunding, even if it is through gritted teeth on this occasion. There is also the possibility that as your auction texts suggests the bra was too big for you as well that paypal will find for the buyer anyway if this goes to dispute.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I wouldn't fully refund myself either, i'd say as a goodwill gesture i'd refund minus fees and postage, as you stated the size, the seller could always sell it herself, but although it looks bad dipping below 98%, other purchases will soon improve it.~*Cerenia*~

I think a neg for not offering a refund on something that is as described would be harsh, although knowing how things work on ebay, not unexpected. I really do think she's got a bit of neck, to be honest. As I said, if I buy something and it doesn't fit, I just put it down to experience and give it to a charity shop.
And yes, she could sell it herself!!
I don't hold much store by ratings - just one buyer/seller can make a big difference. I read what's actually been said and gone on, rather than just refuse to buy from someone with, say, 96%.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -
Personally if I was buying an item like this i'd buy it almost expecting it not to fit and take a chance on it. A dozen different bras in the same size will all fit differently. I guess it didn't cost a lot to send so maybe refund her, claim your fees back from ebay and as suggested above re-advertise stating no returns for item not fitting. You could give actual measurements too although I guess this may be difficult for this type of item.0
