Advice needed for mature student

Hi

My husband has sucessfully applied for a teaching assistants course at our local college and has got a work placement. He has had two induction days already at college and work has been set, he also has been on his work placement for 3 weeks. We applied for a career development loan with barclays(who we have a current account with), we have been turned down. The reason they gave was the way our current account was ran in the past, by this I presume they mean we had a authorised overdraft! My husband gabe up his full-time job and now has a part time job, but with only a third of the income he had previously. I am not working due to a disability I have. We were banking on the CDL and now are at a loss as to how we are going to cope, with the mortgage and other outgoings.

Any advice would be great
thanks
