Writing a will

Hello,

not sure whether this is the right section of the forum, but I'm struggling to find an online service to write my mirrored will that would take in account our property abroad.

Is there any service out of there that will fit the bill, or should I go to a proper solicitor?
What if I do not include / declare the property abroad in the UK will? E.g. By doing a will in the foreign country?

Thanks
Andrea

For the relatively small cost of doing it properly I'd see a solicitor.

Otherwise it may be cheap but cost your estate a fortune to resolve later.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

If you don't mention the property in your UK will it will pass to your residuary beneficiaries unless your foreign will (or the law of that country) says otherwise

You need to go to a solicitor. They will source and instruct a solicitor who understands the law in that particular country to write a Will for you. Obviously you are paying a UK solicitor to be the go between but in my opinion well worth it to make sure everything is done properly.

I know a solicitor whose day to day role is writing wills and sorting out inheritance issues etc. When a person has property both in the UK and abroad she always has two wills drawn up for the client, one for the UK assets and one for the assets that are abroad that takes in to account the law of that country.

Is the property in the EU?

The rules on succession are changing in 2015 (for the better) and should be considered.

I doubt they will have made it to the online services yet, though.
