Insurance for a UK holiday?

Hi All,

I will be planning a one night stay in the UK (London). I'll be doing the usual, show, hotel, food, other attractions. As I am in the military, I want to insure against this (as it is not cheap) just incase I can not go due to work commitments.

Does anyone know of a company that would insure against this?

Surely it is no different to travel insurance? (But will it only cover the cost of the hotel?).

Kind Regards,
Amnesia

Personally, I've never had any holiday insurance that would cover you not being able to go due to 'work commitments' - most will cover against Jury service , but that's the closest it gets. And even that only covers travel and accomodation, not incidental expenses like show tickets etc

There have been a few similar queries on these boards in the past but I don't think anyone has ever came up with anything like you describe

It might be worth looking at the insurance or armed forces boards to see if there is a more specialist view

Your best bet is probably to try and ensure that as much as possible isn;'t bought or can be cancelled if you can't go - e.g. book flexible hotel rates that allow you to cancel up to the day of travel, take pot luck with Theatre tickets on the day from the Leister Square discount booth

Many employers will reimburse you if they force you to cancel annual leave that has been approved in advance. Is this not the case in the armed forces?
