Mortgage valuation found dampness

We are in the process of buying our first flat. We had a basic valuation done and it came back with "evidence of dampness to the walls and timbers" and said we should get a specialist. We are first time buyers and have no idea what this means, what we're supposed to do or anything like that.
Any help?

Do they say where? If could be blocked gutters or downpipes, could be a roof leak, could be rising damp.0

The estate agent will have some phone numbers of local builders who will give you a quote.0

They did not say where. The flat is lovely but I'm worried now. How expensive can this problem be? Or could it be minimal?0

You won't know how big or small the cost or problem is until you have someone out to look at it.
Remember a basic mortgage valuation is the bank satisfying themselves that they would get there money back from the property.
Def get someone too look , then you can make an informed decision .0 -
Very common to find damp somewhere in a property.
As above, you need to establish what sort of damp. Might just be inadequate ventilation.
Try not to panic... know it's difficult as a FTB hearing about some issues! Most houses (except the last two) have had evidence of damp somewhere or other.
