Paypal 'eCheque' problemmm

A buyer won my auction and paid via Paypal 'eCheque' for £175

We waited and waited and waited fore the payment to clear.

2 weeks on - no payment!

It appears to have been cancelled.

What should we do??? Just give up on the sale?

You need to find out what has happened with the e-cheque. Has it been cancelled because the seller didn't have the funds available?

It takes a looooooong time for echeques to clear. paypal like having the money sitting in their accounts earning interest. echeques are not that simple to cancel and the money would have been taken out of the buyers account regardless so it is in the paypal system somewhere.

speak to the buyer and open a communication box with paypal.

p.s even if the seller didn't have sufficient funds in the account, paypal will automatically resubmit.

p.s if you are willingly to accept a echeque then you should accept a paper cheque as it is up to 17 days quicker to have cash in account than going through paypal.

  • I would contact the buyer and ask if they know why it's been cancelled.

For some reason my paypal account has suddenly just decided to only give me the option of Echeck and blank out the direct BT. I have no idea, if you ress help it says for security reasons they do it sometimes. Either way, they do take a hell of a lot of time to clear!

Some buyers DO use wrongly. They hope that you send out the item before it has cleared (cos you trust paypal don't you!), knowing full well they do not have funds in their banks to cover it, so the above post is wrong, it is probably not in the paypal system as it is not instantly clearing.
  • contrary to popular belief, eCheques can be refunded by seller (in full only) before it has cleared, in a way, that means you are cancelling it

if you dont wish to wait so long simply do this from the payments Details page with your paypal account and ask the seller to try n re-submit payment through another paypal option or send another form of payment

by 'it appears to be cancelled' does it say it's been cancelled? as echeques usually give a clearence date on them.

How can you refund a payment you are yet to receive?
