Halifax Reward account

HI

Does the above account require that you have to switch your account to receive the 5 pounds per month? Does it also require direct debits?

Thanks.

No and yes respectively (as published prominently on their website at http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/current-accounts/reward-current-account/!)

you need 2 DDs for the £5/month.
if you can, transfer an account across and benefit from an opening incentive on the way in too.

Can I switch an account I have that has only a few pounds in it? It has no direct debits coming out, but can I move a couple from another account to the switched one?

    yes, sounds ok to me.
what i have tended to do is to create a couple of small DDs on an account, then move that across with DDs in place.

Thanks planteria. One more question, how easy is it to transfer a direct debit, well 2, to this account from my tsb account?

if you set up DDs on the account you are going to transfer (bearing in mind they dont have to be taken yet) then it is just part of the transfer.

to transfer DDs from other accounts, which you are planning to retain, just speak to Halifax. but i have found that it has been necessary to set them up again, properly, once they are with Halifax.

These are hard times. A lot of people seem to be dependent on this fiver a month. Selling the Big Issue is easier and more profitable.....

It's hardly mse to throw away free money for the sake of a few minutes work. From the efforts of our big issue seller in all weathers I'm sure this is much easier way to make money.
