Named driver car accident.

I am wondering if anyone can advice me regarding an accident.

My son is a named driver on my car insurance, he had an accident where he bumped the back of the vehicle in front at a roundabout.
There was only slight damage to their bumper and we agreed to pay for this (£200) and not put it through the insurance as I was concerned about how it would affect my premium.
However as I have pnc I am wondering wether it would be better to put it through the insurance as I will have to inform them of the incident anyway. Just wondering how this will affect my renewal premium if I claim.
Also my cars bumper is damaged, but if I put this through the insurance as well would this count as two claims?
My son is looking at getting his own vehicle and insurance later this year, so if a claim is made would that make his insurance higher than just the accident with no claim. Should just add he is in his 30's and his last claim was over 8 years ago.
Thanks in advance.

Does the protected no claims still apply with the named driver? Younger or inexperienced maybe excluded, But you said he is older and experienced so should be OK.

Also protected no claims does not mean your future premiums wont increase.

    One incident one claim.

You need to declare having the claim. And if he gets his own policy he needs to declare the incident also.

Hi, forgotmyname. I think that as it is my policy the pnc will apply. Initially I thought that if I dealt with the cost of repairs myself, it wouldn't impact on my insurance, however as I still have to inform the insurance company I am wondering wether I might as well make the claim, if I am going to be penalised anyway.

It could go either way. Insurance never seems to make sense.

Add an accident prone slightly younger sister to my long claim free record and my insurance is cheaper?

You can try comparison quotes to see how much difference adding a no claim incident or a at fault claim to your policy.

But beware that using your real details, Same IP address or computer could get flagged as potential fraud.
A few people have been caught out putting claims or points in quotes then taking out a policy without them.

The systems have more than one way to track your quotes.
