5th May 2014 - London

Hello.

I am thinking of going to London for a day out on 5th May on my own and I was wondering if anyone knew of any events/anything I could go to?

I will most likely get there for about 12 midday and return at 17:30.

Thank you for in advance.

I am in the exact same position at the same time. I have decided to get a treasure trail - I have done them with friends and family -but not in London -they do turn a basic walk around into something more focused and interesting. I am sure I will learn and see something interesting things, more so than just wandering around looking at the sights. I have been to London quite a few times so have seen the main touristy sites, so I think this will be a bit different and also cheaper. Hope you enjoy your day.

there is a tube strike planned. so keep an eye on that. if it goes ahead, travel around town will far more crowded.

As for what to do, there is such variety around. If you could give us some pointers as to your likes and dislikes.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

  • There will be hundreds of things going on in London on any random date you pick.

A section of those paying for advertising can be found on http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/whats-on.php?type=&day=5&month=5&year=2014 plus of cause there is all the usual museums/ galleries etc too

Would help if you said what you actually liked though
  • I apologise for not stating what I liked and disliked, I knew there was something I had forgotten ;)

I do like to see some of the landmarks and local buildings that contain some history. I haven't been to London enough to develop any disliking... other than the amount of pigeons :)

I have been to the National Gallery, British History Museum, Science Museum as well as the places that tourists tend to gravitate to.

  • What station will you arrive at - you will be slightly limited by the tube strike so best to stick to just one area - maybe Bankside and a walk along the river?

I will be arriving at London Liverpool Street.. which is difficult to travel from at the best of times!
