hey guys
as we surge ever closer to exchange (haha) i was wondering about my lawn!
OH tried to cut it on the weekend and after a few months of growth our lawnmower just couldnt handle it and it looks like it needs a good going over with a petrol strimmer now.
would you cut it or leave it?

I'd try to borrow one, if not leave it!0

thanks! i would have to hire one so maybe i'll assess it when we hopefully exchange to see if it looks really unacceptable... it's no jungle... just winter growth!
i thought, how would i feel if i arrived to this lawn and figured i wouldnt mind as it happened to us when we bought this place and we weren't bothered.
i dont want any comebacks/complaints after completion though! lolSpreadsheet-obsessed.0 -
Well, you've left it too long!
Get/borrow/beg a decent petrol mower and cut it.
The longer you leave it the more difficult it will be. Not really fair for the incoming owners!0 -
GM - you are the other half of my conscience

Well, if it is so obviously in a state your buyers saw it and they are still buying the property.
They should be expecting to have a nice mowing session after moving in.0 -
(ashamed to say the slightly moronic and unreasonable part of my conscience says the grass was a lot shorter when we were actually meant to exchange/complete mid march before lots of buyer delays, haha)
i did not just type that out loud!!!!!!!!!Spreadsheet-obsessed.0 -
I'm waiting to exchange too, completion is looking like early May - I cut the lawn at the weekend for the last time. Mower is now cleaned and packed away ready for the move.
The chain had better not collapse! Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

jjlandlord - it's not ridiculously long. the lawnmower went through it, with a big struggle. you wouldnt want to faceplant it though.
i might end up just cutting it (read - ask OH to hire a mower and cut it) to save any guilt when we give the keys back.Spreadsheet-obsessed.0 -
