Hi,
I'm not sure if i've posted this in the right place but if not could some one point me in the right direction. I've just received an e-mail from nationwide saying some accounts have been deactivated due to fraud and directed me to a link to reactivate it. the site looks genuine but I don't have an account with nationwide. My kids do and a while ago I entered a competition on their behalf and used my e-mail so not sure if it's a genuine mistake, if it's their accounts that have the problem or if it's a dodgy scam. I've forwarded it on the natiowide site just to be sure but just wanted to make you guys aware.

Yup, it's definately a scam. I get these e-mails from every bank in town but my own. I've printed the e-mail out a couple of times and visited the branches in question. Mostly it's a fob-off. They admit themselves it's a scam, but never seem to take staps to investigate. They all have said to me that they wouldn't contact customers regarding security via e-mail, they would write to them. So, junk it and ignore any future e-mails.0

I get these scam emails all the time 'from' all banks. I just take them with a pinch of salt now.
If you put your mouse over the link in the email you will see what the real link behind the HTML code is.0 -
Forward it to the nationwide on phishing@nationwide.co.ukEvery day above ground is a good day.0

Hi,

If that was the Smart competition then you email address definitely went nowhere near the database so definitely report that one on the email already quoted.0
