get normal fares on London's tour buses

the expensive open top tour buses claim the fuel tax rebates as a normal bus route, in order to do this they have to offer normal local fares, there is a notice at the door saying 'local fares available'. They were most reluctant to tell me how much these are but eventually admitted that i could go from Victoria to Marble Arch for £1. so hop on the bus for the bit past the sights you want, insist on the local fare, you get the same commentary etc and save on the usual £15 tour price.
