Help....Direct Debit fee Overdrawn

Hi everyone, this is my first thread on here so hope someone can help before I ring the bank, I am one of those people who will agree with everything they say and still have this charge to pay .
I recieved my bank statement this morning with a Direct debit fee added (this was my fault as I didn't have the funds in at the time so I overdrew) It was for my TV Licence of £22.58 on the 1st June the Direct Debit was returned on the same day. I rang the TV licence people and we agreed to have double the payment on 1st July which they did:T but I didn't think the bank would charge me £30 if they rejected it anyway.
So all that writing and I come to the question Will I have to pay it? as I am not working at the moment and I am a single mother £30 is alot of money too me so any help or tips of what I should say would be gratefully appreciated.
Sorry it's so long winded Thanks Lou

Unfortunately if there were insufficient funds to meet the dd and as such the dd was unpaid then the charge will stand. All you can do is speak to your bank and they may agree to refund the fee.0

If this is the first time that it has happened it is worth phoning up the bank. You can either plead ignorance and poverty and apeal to their better nature or you can have a go and say that you only went overdrawn the once, the account is normally in credit (if it is) etc etc. I would suggest the first.0
