Barclays Bank are they in Breach of the Banking Code

Clearly not much fighting spirit on behalf of customers here! I am not some some rabid Marxist Revolutionary, just a normal guy suggesting that Banks act reasonably and don't suddenly drop their customers in the smelly brown stuff, assuming that the regular salary credits are still coming in. If a facility is withdrawn, it normally means that regular payments aren't made, such as the mortgage, ruining the credit rating, making it harder to recover, and in the meantime, incurring charges from Bank and other Companies affected. Stick it on a loan and the overdraft gets repaid, and the customer remains a 'happy bunny' as Alan Johnson might say.
If that really would make a dent in the vast profits of the corrupt Capitalists exploiting the financial vulnerability of the Proletariat, perhaps Bono could set up a 'Bank Shareholder Aid' concert at Wembley! Power to the People!!!!0 -
Don't know what you want.
If the bank sees that it isn't going to get back it's investment, why would/should it give out more money?
Might not seem fair to you but seems logical to me,
Sorry.
Think we may be at cross-purposes here - I quite agree about not giving out more money, all I am suggesting is that randomly withdrawing an agreed overdraft facility without warning is not the most helpful idea, and could cause untold misery to the individual. Switching the overdraft to loan is not 'giving out new money', it is just allowing a reasonable timescale to pay money back. When I were a lad, working in a Bank 25 years ago, it was common practice, seemed sensible, and generally resolved the problem.0
