I am a 60 year old self employed male with £40.000 either to save or invest
a financial adviser has suggested low risk investment bonds or funds to hopefully give me a 6 to 7% return on my money
But i am not sure , i am looking for a 5- 6 year investment until my retirement , or what is the best savings account out there with no risk to my capital .
thanks for any advise given

Do you use the best current accounts for your circumstances?

As atush says it's difficult to comment further without more of an idea about your wider financial situation.
The best savings accounts are now current accounts there's a list on teh main sites and you could get 3% or a bit more on teh sums you are talking about.
In the current low returns environment then taking about the returns your adviser suggests doesn't correlate wih low risk, they would be medium risk investments in shares and bonds I would have thought. An investment bond is normally just a wrapper so it's important to understand what your money would actually be interested in to form an opinion as to whether that might be acceptable to you.0 -
I have two other private pensions total value approx £65.0000

The adviser has talked about many options i dont really know where im up to , including unit trusts and life funds in their portfolios
in the medium risk investment with fund mix
global equity
global managed
int corporate bonds
multi assets
etc etc
which means nothing to me
So hoping this means something to you guys thanks again for looking and appreciate any information0
