Empire State Building or Top of The Rock (and any other New York tips!)

Hi all, I'm off to NY a week tomorrow (yippee), the last time I went was over 20 years ago so trying to decide what exactly we do while there.
We are there for 4 nights, so far I have decided on the full island boat trip, the 9/11 memorial and walking over the Brooklyn bridge.
Any other trips will be gratefully received, particularly concerning ESB or TOTR ( really want to do either of these at sunset)
Thank you in advance

My tip is to read this thread
And PM Heatherw_01 and tell her that it was a stupid idea to move all these important threads to one sticky.
As now,no-one can find them and we're back to everyone starting threads asking about NYC and Vegas0 -
Personally, I prefer the TOTR. It may not be as tall but I think the views are better, the queues aren't as bad and you get to look at the ESB.0

Empire state but don't go during the day, go at night when there are fewer annoying kids and tourists.0
-
TOTR by day.
ESB by night.
Whichever one you preferred at dusk!
There, that's three trips sorted.0 -

I second that about the travel stickies.
What is the thinking behind it
Have you sent her a PM and had a response0 -
My thoughts exactly as soon as I saw that another NY thread had been started. I realise that it is a new policy for all of the boards, but it is stupid. And PM Heatherw_01 and tell her that it was a stupid idea to move all these important threads to one sticky.

This is not a criticism of the OP, just of the situation caused by the new sticky policy.0 -
Top of the Rock ...it's more modern and comfortable and the view *includes* the ESB .
Agree about the stickies- Blinking daft.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Top of the Rock, gives you a great view of the ESB.0

Do both by night. Much much much less crowded and stunning views of NY in the night. The Empire State Building is also lit up with green & red in the evening (the tip of it, at least)0
