Hello and good morning to posters and readers.
This is my small attempt to start the posts. Just do my best.

I like that saying - do my best! That is encouraging. Just to keep trying. Living with in our needs.

This morning I have the upstairs windows and downstairs back door ajar to let the house air.

washing machine on - wish it did not take so long! wash on 40C and 1600 spin. Will be drying on the line.

Postie brought a free sample of Escada born in paradise eau de toilette yesterday. Colourful postcard. i wonder if I can peel the address label off and reuse?
Well! I did get the label off and now I am going to address it to a friend with some small words = act of kindness. Let the person know i am thinking of them. Perfume sticker is still on the card.

Still trying to be penny pinching on the electric bill. I have ordered a light sensor bulb for the bottom of the stairs hallway. I hope it turns out to be as good as it sounds. No more leaving the light on!
Used a voucher code from completing surveys, so got it FREE!.

72 views so far and no one feel like chatting?
Well, I will carry on chatting then! Our depts over the years have been the morgage, car, bathroom and conservatory. The bigger items.
The smaller things like holidays, school trips, clothes and food we have always saved for.
A lot of people on here get into dept through bad management of the money you have. Spending on cards money you have not got. No one is judging!
Most people on the DFW want to help each other.
No one can help though unless you want help! talk to us.

Sending good spend less wishes...
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

    Morning all!

Woke up feeling energised this morning and have put the washing away, wiped down the bathroom and put a load of washing in!

    Today I will:
Check banks, there's £10 missing between my bank account and spreadsheet so see if that's appeared
File train ticket refund away with others (cross country, delayed by more than an hour due to flooding and have whole value of ticket back!)
Quick vacuum of bedroom and communal areas of house (unless a mins housemate does it first!)
Take mince out of freezer for chilli to be made tomorrow
Risotto for tea, all food from stores
Pop out for catch up and coffee with long lost friend, take John Lewis voucher for free coffee and cake!
    Transfer ebay winnings to ISA
    Finish one of my assignments
Pluck my eyebrows to try and get another few weeks out of the last wax!
Alcohol free weekend, after doing Dry January my urge to drink in the house has greatly decreased other than on special occasions!

Back later to catch up, enjoy the sun all! X

Morning all, thanks for starting us off Goodadvice, yay for your energised morning Kjp and Ziggy hope you start to feel much better quickly.

I have had a bit of a tidy in the kitchen, made dough for tonight's pizza (using a mix of cheap plain flour and strong white bread flour to save an extra few pennies), Been round to Lidl for the bits I need over the next few days (or so I thought until I went to get a portion of pre made pasta pizza sauce from the freezer - there was none there so will need some peppers). I have checked my bank account which matches my spreadsheet :D.

    Still to do today
    Finish the picnic
Take the boys out with our season tickets for the afternoon
Make our fake away pizza's for tea
Try and find time to do a little more of my sewing project (haven't done any since last weekend)

Hope you all have a little sun today - Hubby is in shorts

    Eighth Anniversary Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello all,

I had a very DFW morning! Went into town to close down an old Halifax account I didn't even know I had until a letter arrived at my mum's house last week. That netted me the remaining balance of £5.96. Riches beyond imagining! :rotfl:

Then I took a necklace back that I'd impulse-bought and didn't really need: another £8.50. Picked up a free mini foundation and brush with a voucher from on here, and bought 2 boxes of Kleenex Balsalm for 66p using a £2 voucher I had.

Then I got home and a family friend had sent me a £20 cheque in the post as a present! A very profitable day so far:T

    Afternoon Penny Savers,
Well, I've not exactly been caning it with money saving activity this morning, but this is the list, such as it is:
*Saved a tiny bit of energy by sharing bath water, turning de-humidifyer right down & cracking windows instead and keeping heating off till at least 5pm.
*mr f volunteered to get the grocery shopping in on his way home from work. He's gone off armed with the list & this week's budget total. He's getting really good at coming in under or on budget, so fingers crossed for today's efforts!
*Meals as per meal plans.....some of the bargainmongous chicken we bought as a freezer pack from our local butcher last weekend.
*Cleared all available surveys. Points now adding up nicely.
*Paid credit card bill online in full.
*Updated daily food/calorie book & ruled up pages until June. Will I have managed to get the remaining 1.5 stone I intend to lose off by then? I don't know.....it's much harder work when you've been doing it for so long. Feeling motivated though. Portion control definitely has an effect on how long our food supplies last!
*Checked online banking for something & spotted a really odd thing re my statement. 2 transactions previously on my statement had completely vanished!! Thought I was going mad. Phoned bank. V helpful.....one thing about Co-op Bank is that I can't fault their Customer Services when I've needed help. Problem was actually Inusrance company. Phoned them. Should be sorted now. Will double-check next week.
*Use-it-up-so-I-can-chuck-it-out campaign still going well. Working my way successfully through old make-up drawer. Cranberry teabags also finished.....goodness knows how long they'd been in the cupboard. Extending my efforts to candles/scented oils/joss sticks & all that kind of stuff next, most of which I've received as presents. Nothing more in that line whatsoever will be bought until all the existing stuff has been used up.
*Didn't quite finish knitting project last night, but only a little more shaping & a pom-pom to do, plus sewing up, & that's another gift to go in the present box. Hope to cast on next project this weekend.
*Peruse latest Avon book to see if there are any not to be missed bargains. Am good at writing 'Nothing required this time, thank-you' if I really don't need anything.
*Swapped veggie seed trays around to give different ones their turn in the heated propagator. So much milder than last year....even the aubergines are up!
Well, I said it wasn't much of an inspiring list today. Have a good weekend, everyone.
Ziggy - hope your fed-upness lifts. What are you knitting at the moment? Aren't I nosy?!

File train ticket refund away with others (cross country, delayed by more than an hour due to flooding and have whole value of ticket back!)
Quick vacuum of bedroom and communal areas of house (unless a mins housemate does it first!) Had a whiz round with the hoover and also wiped down the kitchen and it was looking sparkly last time I was down there...
Take mince out of freezer for chilli to be made tomorrow Done
Risotto for tea, all food from stores Was lovely, did treat myself to three mushrooms to chuck into it though!
Pop out for catch up and coffee with long lost friend, take John Lewis voucher for free coffee and cake! JL was packed so ended up in Costa, only bought hot choc so avoided the cake!
Transfer ebay winnings to ISA Done, only £8 left until I can tick another box off my savings target!
Finish one of my assignments Mission about to start now
Pluck my eyebrows to try and get another few weeks out of the last wax!
Alcohol free weekend, after doing Dry January my urge to drink in the house has greatly decreased other than on special occasions!

What a quiet day for posters, hopefully you're all out enjoying the free sunshine!

Along with the above, I also did a wash and dried it on the line!!! did my expenses (deleted them by accident rather than hit submit, so had to redo - doh!), cleaned the filthy horrible keyboard to save buying a new one, and (slightly shamefully!) picked up an unfranked 20p stamp from outside the house this morning on my way out! Every little helps, right?!

I'm off to make myself a little chocolate mug cake, get a glass of water with a slice of frozen lemon (fancy!) and finish my assignment.

Have a great evening all xx

  • Hi all, hope you're all having a good weekend? Today's list:

Except for an hour this morning, no heating on today
    Checked bank
    Checked postcode lottery
Took DD to a party and brought some snacks for me to avoid buying anything. I was going to buy a cup of tea, but the birthday mum offered to buy it (saved £1.25!)
Went shopping armed with meal plan, did 3 different stores to try to get the best buys at each. Picked up quite a few offers, the freezer and fridge are looking very healthy now.
Used book day voucher to get DD a free book
Washing and ironing pile all done
Tidied away all DD's birthday presents and cards and took down all of the birthday decorations. Living room back to normal again!

Going to take DD to see Frozen tomorrow morning. It's on the kids am deal and the cinema is in walking distance. I resisted taking her to a full price film for her birthday last week and DH can get on with some DIY while we're out. We'll take some snacks and then come home for lunch. Hopefully, if the weather's nice we can all go for a walk in the afternoon. Other than a bit more general cleaning and cooking, I don't need to do anything else tomorrow.

Just remembered, got my bank statement today and although I haven't made a dent in my overdraft (due to unexpected bills last month), my bank charges will be £2 less than the previousmonth - felt like a small victory and brightened up my morning.

Morning all and what a lovely morning it is. The good weather does make a large diffrence.

I have just turned the CH off again. This time I am not telling anyone.
I turned it off in the week and because I said i had done it - funny how family started to say they were cold.
It is that time that the heating goes on and off, then stays off.

Been invited out today - DD wants tp go car shopping. She has sold her old car off our drive. We live on a main road. A change of car will be good.

Washing machine has a 3 load que. Will be putting on the line.

Dinner = Roast turkey joint. Was frozen, but I have defrosted it so the oven does not have to be on so long.

Surveys are comming in as per usual. Hopefully will be able to cash out some this next week.
Missed postie on Saturday knocking at the door, I was in the garden with dog. I think that was a new trial item. Redelivering on Tuesday.

Most windows and doors open to air the house.

Weekly supermarket shopping = for the week £50.80.
We will have to buy some more bread at some point.
I bought the x3 packs of mince for £10. At home split then all in half for the freezer. = £1.66 each dinner.

    Be Happy.

I can smell some neighbours bave a BBQ going.

I have just been baking fruit scones wile the oven is on for the turkey joint for dinner. Bought some clotted cream wile I was in the supermarket.

Indoor gardening - the sw.corn seed has small shoots comming out of the soil.
