"Fraud" in Jobsmatch

Interesting but not surprising article here

http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/mar/05/government-universal-jobmatch-website-fraud

Claimants are forced to use it or lose their benefits, and exposed to fraud and scams at the same time, as many threads on here have shown.

Shameful.

    About time too.

Whole website is rotten, full of spam jobs.

    Absolute scandal.

You just beat me to posting this, I saw it I on the Channel 4 report tonight.

It looks like the game is up for the UJM fraudsters (at last)

Self employed 'jobs' being advertised there but I was sure the employer can not tell the staff they are self employed as its not for them to do so.

  • Is this article suggesting the available jobs statistics are porkies?

Surely not, as this would mean I cannot trust what the Gov' tell me, and that would mean I would have to think for myself....

The DWP has a huge "conflict of interest" with UJM. I suspect if this arrangement involved a legitimate private company and not a gov' dept', it would be investigated. But it won't be, because its not politically convenient to officially uncover the truth.

Looking at both articles it suggests 50% - 60% are 'bogus'.

    No sh#T!!:T

Try telling that to a JC advisor and although some know it they still expect you to apply for these jobs!!

I've 'spammed' searchjobvacancies with applications :rotfl:

I wonder if certain posters on this site have helped in uncovering these fraudulent "jobs" being posted on Universal Jobsearch by some threads on this forum?

No they dont if you ask them to confirm where the company is based and ask them for a phone number :)

Luckily i'm working now but I told a JC advisor about searchjobvacancies and how the same job had been advertised repeatedly for weeks on end and 'should I keep applying for an obviously non existent job?' (just CV gathering), and she said 'Yes!' I wish I'd known that then AP :D

I know quite a few of those bogus job posters have gone from UJM now and hopefully the rest will be soon. (I'm still looking, just not nearly as often)

I just email the UJM via the contact button asking them to confirm the company address, email and phone number.

If they can not do this then they should not be allowed to advertise.

What they should do is make every poster register a credit card to their accounts and charge 0.01p for each advert which drops of after 7 days to confirm who they are and you would see these fake jobs drop off very quickly.
