May have a hard job at aged 30 as not many places want someone so old (sorry to say) to do them. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You might be surprised to know the majority of Apprenticeships are started by those aged 25+0 -
I've also looked into adult apprenticeships and found nothing of any particular value. As AP007 says, it seems very difficult to get onto an apprenticeship once above a certain age.
I even emailed Ingeus (at least, I think it was them) as they specifically mentioned helping with adult apprenticeships on their website. However, they simply gave me the link to the general Apprenticeships website above, so no specific assistance.
I think the government funding for apprentices is very rare for adults above a certain age and this is also a barrier when applying for them.
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.0 -

Hi
Thanks for your reply shes in child care at the moment but she wants to go into customer service0 -
What do you mean exactly? Customer service is a very broad term.
However, yon't need an apprenticeship to go into most customer service roles.
Just look for entry level positions. I'm sure she has plenty of skills she can transfer from her childcare experience.0 -
She has tried to get jobs such as tesco aldi etc but they shes too over qualified0

I had plenty of offers (for IT apprenticeships) when I was 27, but was told by all the public ones that I would have to fund it myself, as government funding/grants are only available for 16-24 year olds.0
