Early train claim?

This is probably a bit of a rare case, but is it possible to claim for a taxi fare when a train leaves early?

I was planning on getting the last train home and when I arrived at the station (albeit with just a minute to spare), the train had already gone (only 2 minutes early, but meant I was stranded). I had already bought a return ticket that morning but then had to fork out for a taxi home. I have a screengrab of the National Rail app showing that it left early (not just by my clock) if that is worth anything?

yes though you should have asked at the station. Do you still have the rail ticket. You needed to go back to were you brough the ticket from and get a claim form
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Thanks. I bought the outbound and return ticket on the train the morning and still have it. I couldn't speak to anyone on the train station at the time as it's unmanned!

You should be entitled to compensation.

What station was it, what day, and what time?

It can be checked on a website such as Raildar - I am happy to check for you.

Yeah that train is shown as departing Merthyr Tydfil on time at 2238, it ran early from Pontypridd until it arrived at Cardiff Central, where it was held until its booked time, and ran on time from there to Bridgend.

It is shown as having departed 2 minutes early at Trefforest.

So I doubt they would try to deny it! Let us know what they say.
