My Job is being advertised? Should I speak to my boss?

Hey everyone, you guys are always really supportive in other posts I've read when I 've needed help. I hope you can help me this time.

Basically, I've been looking for more beauty work on beautyjobsuk.co.uk, and I saw this advert beautyjobsuk.co.uk/beauty-therapy-jobs/beauty-therapist-jobs/confident-beauty-therapist-needed_i2516...This is my job! We don't have space for another therapist, so my boss is adverising my beauty therapy job. The thing is, it's not my fault that we're quiet, it's just this time of year - hence I was looking for another additional job too.

Do you think I should speak to him, because I really like working in this beauty salon, but I don't want to think I've been watching everything he does if you know what I mean?

why would they advertise your job if business is slow?

You may want to take the link out of your post as if the boss is on here they already know you have seen it.

  • First things first - I'd really suggest you remove information from your post that identifies you/your employer. If your screen name is also your real name, I'd suggest you should ask the forum team to change it for you.

As far as the job advertisement goes, I'd probably have a chat with the boss about how things are going, ask if he has any concerns about your work or if there's anything he would like the change etc to see if that gives you an idea of what is going on. I'd be hesitant to mention seeing the advert because that would make it obvious that you've been looking for other work which often doesn't go down well with employers!
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

    Some thoughts

Are they just fishing? (you could be surprised but I think it really does go on) to get a pool of staff readily available maybe as bank or hours they know you can't do/not keen on

Could it be it is not them advertising? the internet means anything can be twisted and reposted...

I once saw an agency advertised for a company whose ad's I'd seen on r..d - and I know their not keen on agencies and would never advertise on the site where I saw it!! I saw they had even used one of their (the company) past adverts body as a cut and paste clear to see!
