Just like the US's Stars & Stripes, the flag evolves - depending on when it was created, the stars were augmented. If/when following Scotland's YES vote, the flag will change to reflect the new order (indeed, I would expect rUK to insist on it).

So the flag will not 'change' but be replaced with a more modern version to reflect the revised national construction. The original one (1707-2016) will be historical, and permit the tourism industry to have a sale of the usual tat before the new flag icon is replaced.

Could we finish off Hadrians work and make the wall higher ? Block off the M6 and make sandbanks around the north sea . The best things ever to come out of Scotland all played for Liverpool (& Little Jimmy Krankie.)

I really don't see any need to change the flag. The Union flag is the flag of the UK. If Scotland leaves the UK then the UK will still exist and we can use any flag we want.

The Union flag also exists on the flags of Australia, New Zealand and even the state of Hawaii. Should those have to change too?

Obviously we could still keep it the same but it contains the Scottish flag so would make sense to redesign.

I think we should add the Welsh dragon. That would look awesome.
