Taking a recruitment consultant job..

Hi,
I've been offered a job in recruitment, where the basic salary matches my current basic but has all the promise of the high commission that recruitment brings. I currently work for a telecoms company, and the recruitment agency specialises in placing telecoms specialists so I should have a head start.
I've never worked in recruitment before so it would be a big change. Would any current/previous recruitment advisors recommend a career in recruitment? I've heard mixed responses on working in the industry.
For the first 2 years both parties only have to give 1 weeks notice. Is this normal or should I be concerned? 1 weeks notice to me suggests a "hire and fire" industry.
Thanks for your advice!

It is a hire and fire industry - if you don't meet your targets you will be dismissed. Have you any information on what other consultants are actually earning, as opposed to what you *may* be able to earn?0

Afraid not. I have been offered the opportunity to speak to a few of the guys that work there at the moment over the phone to get their thoughts on it. worth taking up the opportunity to speak to them?0

If the agency loses business just like any other company they ditch ones that are not reaching the targets ie jobs and commission payments for the agency. We’ve had to remove your signature.
