mentioning the company would help others to decide wether or not to use them and also may help you with others coming forward with the same problems
  • I don't run a car of my own these days, so an occasional hire car would be handy. I wouldn't have one though for this very reason, the other scam is charging for a full tank of petrol whether you use it or not.

I've seen it recommended that you don't hand the car back until a member of staff signs to say that it's not damaged, but you can't very well get the thumbscrews out can you. It's the way of everything these days, compete on the visible prices, and hide the real costs.

Computers carry a lot of the blame, they've made it so easy to compare prices that everyone is coming up with ever more elaborate and devious ways of hiding the true costs. It's just an arms race that nobody wins. PPI is another example, people have a minor victory by claiming it back, but only until they think up another scam.

    Hertz.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. The rental price was cheap, too cheap and they were trying to sell the excess waiver cover but this trebbled the price and know thats where they make their money.

Would rather just pay a fair price and not feel like I'm being conned out of money by people writing their own rules.

Car hire companies are back on the radio again today, this time for charging people to refill the fuel tank after it's just been filled to the brim two minutes down the road.........
