Question: Contractual notice VS offered notice

Hi, sorry in advance for this strange question
I have a signed contract of employment that states 4 weeks notice. I've offered 8 weeks because it suits my circumstances (long story).
Does my offer of notice hold up or can i still leave after 4 weeks if i get a job offer?
What i mean is my signed contract (with 4 weeks notice) surely over rides the email i sent (offering 8 weeks notice) right?

Depends, I think on the order you got the contract(not signed it) and the email and maybe if the offer was accepted or rejected,
Was the offer accepted and when did you make it.0
