there are Savings Accounts available with Nationwide at the moment which have Minimum Opening Balances of £1,000.
can anyone confirm that these are Opening and not Operating Balances please?

Depends on the account. I opened a loyalty saver at 1.7%, need 1000 to open but operating is just £1. I thought the rate dropped under 1000, but now I can't find anything to say the rate drops for low balances.
