EE (t-mob) upgrade - Rubbish range of phones

My contract with T-Mobile ends on the 22/03 and I'm now eligible for an upgrade.

However the range of phones is crap! There's 51 phones to chose from of which 24 are iphones or blackberry - there are in fact only 16 Android options of which only a handful are mid-range.

Has anyone else noticed the range of phones is bad with ee? Is the range likely to improve as I get closer to the expiry date?

  • Do you think there are maybe other ways to buy a phone? If t mobile don't offer what you want, look elsewhere. You'll always pay more than the cost price on a contract anyway

  • I am being helpful. If you can't get what you want from t mobile, what's the point in moaning about it? Look elsewhere. Do you think they should change all their offers to suit you?

I've not noticed the range of phones, but you could assume that it's probably not going to change much.

Theres two things to consider, First is EE will offer phones people want, If there's low demand for a phone they won't stock it, or will cease to stock it,

Secondly how much do they make from you, if they don't make much from you as a customer you wont get offered deals on the most expensive phones. There may be others but your tariff isn't high enough for them to offer it to you.

Have you looked at P4U & CPW?
Between the two of them they stock pretty much every phone available, and you can usually upgrade through them for at least as good a deal as the network would offer (but with the phone you want) if not better (i've no firsthand experience on pricing with t-mob but they tend to match/beat o2/voda upgrade costs, and with a much bigger range of phones).

In terms of range of phones, CPW for example currently has 68 available for t-mob upgrades, 38 of which are Android.
  • If you can afford thev upfront cost but your new shiny mobile SIM free, and take out a SIM only contract with T-Mobile or whoever suits you best.

It tends to work out cheaper overall, and you are not tied to a single network for 24 months.

My TMob contract ends this month.
The retentions offered were too expensive. Read a current tread in here about early terminations costs when using their 30 day PUK codes from Tmob.
Their automatic routeing on phone calls will drive you mad.
I gave 30 days notice and I am off to Orange through dial phone on a cash back deal for an S4mini which after TCB is £13 a month.

I was asking if other people have noticed the range of phones is poor in order to establish if its just me, and if the range of options improve as the contract expiry date approaches.

I am aware that other people also sell phones apart from t-mobile/ee thank you very much. I didnt think t-mob/ee were the only supplier in the universe.

I am not "moaning about it" I am trying to save money by asking the forum about its experience of upgrading with this provider so I can establish the best course of action.

No, I dont think they should "change all their offers to suit" me, but I had hoped for some indication of if their offers would change as the contract expiry date approaches.

Its not an entirely unreasonable question to pose on a forum supposedly for saving money on mobile deals.
