in Cutting tax
Hi there,
I recently recieved this form as my wife sadly passed away.
There's one question i'm stuck on. Under Other taxable income it asks for 'Monthly pay, before tax'
My question is: Does that mean before or after my pension contributions?
They don't ask for gross pay and they don't ask for taxable income. So i'm confused :-(
Any help?
Thanks

Sorry to hear of your loss.
The form P161 is used by HMRC to ensure that the corect code number is applied to this new source of income. They are interested in your taxable income only and, therefore, it is the pay AFTER pension contributions - probably shown as 'gross for tax' on the payslip. There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who do not. :doh:0 -
Thank you
