Problems with powerseller

Right..... 9th June I win an auction for a digital camera, £72 and £10 post. Paid for it within 12hours via paypal. The seller sent it out special delivery (as stated in the auction) and I received it on thursday 14th. Unforunatly I was away for work for 24hrs, so didn't open the package until the next day. Well, the box and manual etc was all ok but the actual camera was a completely different model of a much lower spec!
I thought fair enough mistakes happen, so wrote up a quick message through ebay:

me:
(15/06/07) "Hi there, got the camera. The box is right but the actual camera inside is a totally different model. Can you offer a replacment or would it just be a full refund? I can send it back via special delivery so long as you'll refund me the £6 it costs.
Thanks."

Didn't get a reply so on the 19th I emailed the sellers paypal address and within an hour had a reply back on the ebay message system:confused:

seller:
(19/06/07) "WHAT CAMERA WAS THAT INSIDE ??????????"

me:
(19/06/07) "Canon power shot A510"

seller
(19/06/07) "okay do onething send everything to gether ... we will replace it"

me
(19/06/07) "Will you refund the return postage?"

seller:
(19/06/07) "we have to first check with the item !!! check the camera serial number in our database to check whether it was our wraehouz product !!! as there are so many discrepency with buyers !! may be if everything is genuine .. then yes !!1 "

So on the 20th I posted (special delivery) it back to the seller, and also included a photocopy of their packing slip so they had all the info.
Didn't hear anything from them, so once it was showed as delivered and had the signature up on the RM site I mailed them once again

me:
(25/06/07) "Hi there, whats the latest on the camera I returned to you?

Thanks,"

seller:
(25/06/07) "i haev to find out

please can i have the tracking number "

me:
(25/06/07) "ZV **** **** 1GB , it was posted 20/06 and was delivered 21/06"

no reply, so this morning sent another message

me:
(27/06/07) "So whats happening then? Do you have the camera I'm after? If not, can you please refund me the full amount (£87.99) please. Thank you."

No reply to this message yet either

This is really starting to annoy me, I'm quite short on cash right now and this camera was for someone else. They have my money, I've paid royal mail £6 and I don't have ANYTHING to show for it :(

It's kinda odd, they're a powerseller, over 2000 feedback, almost all positive.

Anyone got any tips what to do next?

Thanks :)

All you could try is another message to the seller. It's unfair, but he's not obliged to refund refund postage.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

I would still e mail and say you are out of pocket (not your fault) and register another complaint with e bay. Hopefully you have sent bad feedback. Good luck.

  • Ask the seller for £6 or you will tell ebay that they want you to agree so they get their fees back.
