I've done 3 major things since the start of the year.

Does this warrant a new thread? Not too sure, but I couldn't really see where else I could fit it in without having to really crowbar it somewhere else so here goes:
I've done 3 major things since the start of the year:
1) Stopped smoking
2) Started biking to work
3) Started to bring my own lunch to work.
Working that out is:
1) I wasn't a heavy smoker, maybe 10 a day max - so that's 4 packs a week (@ £8.36) including a night out at the weekend
= saving £33/wk = say £120/month give or take.
2) Biking is saving around £25/week on Diesel = £100/month
3) Pack-ups are saving me £4/day = £20/week = £80/month.
So now it's the end of January - I've been doing this a month - so that means that I've managed to 'save' (well, not to spend) .....
.... somewhere in the region of £300 since I went back to work on 2nd January. I'm pretty happy with that!
... and I feel better in myself.
... and I'm going to bed earlier (as I'm knackered from biking 15 miles a day) therefore I'm more alert for work.
... and I'm not stinking out the office after a smoke break.
... and I'm eating healthier.
... and I'm just generally happier.
Amazing what I would call relatively small changes in the things you do, or your lifestyle choices, can make a massive difference, both financially, and personally.

Congrats witm some great changes you've made there!
I also stopped smoking on 01.01.14 and was a 20 a day smoker costing 7.55 a pack!! So far I've saved £218.95 and it's mad how quick the money builds and really surprisingly, I'm having more fun saving the money than I did smoking...Not going to lie though, I still have cravings for them and weak moments where I think I'll cave but then I smell my colleague and think meh, I'll have one tomorrow...day by day thinkingSaved so far - £28,890.97

That's fantastic well done
I've also started bringing my lunch to work as of the new year, it's amazing how much better I feel for it too.
And I'm guessing a saving of say £10 a week... all adds up hey
I don't smoke though so that's goodJan £10 a day £316.15/£310Feb £10 a day £384.31/£280Mar £10 a day £72.00/£3100 -
Congratulations! You're actually saving more than you calculated. A month is (usually) more than four weeks. I've caculated you're saving just under £40 more than your calculations above. Don't sell yourself short!

That money allows you to do more things with your life.
