If correctly its a little harder, all you can do is askDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Once a default is showing on your account it is vary unlikely you will get it removed. Lenders are obligated to be truthful with their reports to the CRA's. They may remove the defaults in special circumstances where you can prove either the debt is not yours/fraudulent activity etc.
You can always ask.... there's no harm in that. But I'd be doubtfu.
If there is a specific reason you defaulted - i.e. something you would consider beyond your control you can ask for a notice of correction to be added to your report, This is an explanatory statement that explains the reason why certain things are on your credit file.

Unlikely, but not unheard of.
Who's it with, what for, when's the default date?:beer:0 -
Basically whats happened was I split up with a previous partner and missed my DMP for a few months while I got myself sorted and they kicked me off.
I was waiting for my ex to redirect post so I could make sure I was paying everything only he's kept sending it to my next door neighbour instead of me! I've paid minimal payments (£20) month while i waited for the list of creditors from step change. I've only received about 3 weeks ago so contacted all my debtors to give them my new address and first thing I've received is a default noticePay off Debts by Christmas 2015 = DEBT FREE!0 -
Just read the notice again. I think I have until 9th of Feb to get it paid before its registered as a default with credit agencies. Tight month next month but least its another £300 paid off!Pay off Debts by Christmas 2015 = DEBT FREE!0

If you are in a DMP anyway then I imagine your chance of getting the default removed are very slim.
However if you were in a DMP for a while then it is surprising that they hadn't already issued a default notice. It may be possible to get the default backdated to an earlier date (which then means it drops off your file sooner).
When did you enter the DMP? have you looked at copies of your credit files? have most of your other creditors already entered defaults on your credit files? what is showing for this account on your credit file before the date of default?
edit - sorry x post. Yes they should give you 14days to rectify the account before a default is entered.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
