Im just curious, what sort of money do you fine DFW's spend on petrol each week ?
My origional spend was £15 per week which used to get me to and from work 5 days a week at around 60 miles total and then maby another short journey or 2 at the weekend.
It looks like I may need to up this to £20 or even £30 / Week which, while it fits in with my budget is causing me a real MSE and DFW headach :rotfl:

I used to spend £100 a month in my old job, then I changed jobs and my travel was costing me £70 a month petrol and £30 a week on the train argh so we moved I now cycle most days to work and I sold my car - my bike paid for itself in 2 months - saving from insurance and petrol. I spend now about £40 a month on petrol but I have a 2nd job I have to drive to unfortunately and I visit home now and then - when I do have to drive for meetings for work they are usually obscure places and out travel expenses will pay for my whole months fuel.
Tesco have a new deal on petrol where you can get 2p off a litre every time you spend £50 and it doesn't have to be in one go - ask a petrol station person.
Can you avoid weekend drives and are you able to commute any other way - e.g. car sharing, cycling, bus or train?

Nothing on petrol - but around £50 a week on diesel for my usage. That is majority commuting to and from work and a small amount of social driving at weekends.
Anything I spend above £50 a week tends to be business miles but I claim that back from work.
Used to spend about £65 a week on diesel commuting to previous job.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I spend about £20 a week which makes it a tough call whether to get on the bus or not, if the bus could get me there in 20 mins it would be a no-brainer

OH spends a fortune, about £250 a month (in a diesel!) because he commutes a long way, about 80 mile round trip, and it's a rural drive so no economical stick-at-60 motorways! Luckily he gets fuel-to-duty payments so about £220 of that is refunded. We opted to live near my work as my shifts are very long so a long commute for me was a no-no.
Now I don't run a car and cycle to work, OH runs his Volvo diesel which costs him about £90 a month in diesel, insurance and tax, which I don't think is too bad.DEBT FREE 3rd Sept 2011

What would you consider a high spend? I wouldn't class over £200 a month as low.
To be honest though its probably very relative to your income. I wouldn't be prepared to spend as much as I do if I was in low paid work.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Me and my partner both commute long distances, so go through about £500 a month on fuel, between us. I'm just about to switch from a petrol to a diesel, which with some rough calculations, i've worked out will save about £100 a month. I hope the cost of fuel reduces soon. I found an old receipt from 2007 the other day, where unleaded was 93.9p. Ahh, those were the days!!Personal Total debt Jan 2013 - £24,393.00

I don't use my car to commute as I get the train (£4500 a year!!), but I do drive it to the train station everyday, and then just use it at weekends. So my petrol spend is low, about £30-£40 a month...0
