Career Development loan and alternatives for UK citizen abroad

I'm a UK citizen currently living in Australia, and have decided to do some postgraduate study here. Before I go on I should say that I'm aware I *could* do equivalent courses back home (and for cheaper!) but I value staying here enough to pay the extra fees for international students at the Australian unis.

I can finance it mostly through savings and with a little work during the 2 year course. I was wondering, however, if there are any loans appropriate to me.

I don't fit into the Australian loan system as a foreigner, and it seems that the Career Development loans are only for certain educational institutions, which an Australian uni wouldn't be covered by.

Does anyone know of any other alternatives? Just a standard personal loan from a bank? Would a UK bank be willing to lend to a citizen who is currently abroad? I looked around the forums for a while but couldn't find any advice that seemed to fit so thought I'd see if there's any wisdom out there - any thoughts or ideas are appreciated :)
