Midlands to london

I wish to travel as far as I can by car down to near London but not use the m25.

Which is the nearest train station I can park at to get a train into London and then onto East dulwich.

I know that I can catch a train from up here, but would rather drive as close as I can.

Is hillingdon an option or anywhere closer

Hillingdon is an option. It cost £5 per day and the tube takes about 45 minutes to central London plus time to get to East Dulwich.

If coming down the M1, then Stanmore is an option.
Under two miles from M1 junc 4.

Or maybe leave M1 at junction 4 and go another couple of miles down the A41 to Mill Hill Broadway Station.

Catch a train from Mill Hill Broadway direct to Tulse Hill and change there for a six minute journey to East Dulwich.

Anytime Day Return Mill Hill Broadway to East Dulwich = £8.40.
Typical journey time = less than 70 minutes.

Are you coming down the M40 rather than the M1? Seems likely as you proposed Hillingdon in the OP.
  • Yes M40 but if there is an easier option which appears to be getting to Mill hill station I will research this.

    Thankyou
  • Any other routes welcome also

    Watford?

Lengthening message to be over the character limit.
  • What about driving to Aylesbury Vale Parkway? Another station that was built for car parking. Not far from the M40 and £3.50 to park for the day. An hour and 5 minutes to Marylebone.

Luton station just off M1, big car park, train direct to London Bridge for connection to East Dulwich, or other options. Journey time 1h20.
  • THank you everyone. I now have multiple choices for this journey
