Need some help (possible 2nd student account)

have just finished my first year at uni, managed to go 1100 (1250 limit) into my student account's overdraft.. i am trying to pay this off but with some certain costs around the corner (i.e. new student house etc) it is proving quite difficult.
i was wondering whether it was possible to open up a second account (student or other) and transfer some of the money into this second account to take the pressure of my main account..?? any other suggestions welcome...
thanks

I wouldn't take out multiple student accounts to run up all the overdrafts. Have you not got your deposit back from this years house to use towards next years? And surely in 2+ months you can save up 1k?0

i was in student accomodation last year, so no deposit, the deposit put down for this year is taken off the last couple of months next year. i could potentially get around £800 due to a holiday and various events in between - which may incur more cost, and also i need to pay the 1+half of rent by the 1st august.. and sort out things to do with the house such as broadband etc.0

well broadband doesn't cost much - 1 month split x ways ~ £5 no?0

depends what package you go for.. i.e. tv/phone/broadband.. i mean things like tv & license ~ £400 tv = £100 each plus 20-30 each for tv license etc.. just wanted some advice on opening a second account to transfer the money into.. or any other ideas0

well assuming you're in a cable area (as you're discussing bb/phone/tv packages) you can get broadband without a phone line and do you honestly need the tv packages? We managed to barter NTL down to £10 a month for 10mbit unlimited service by saying sky was doing 16mbit for £10/month.
And why buy a new £400 tv there are loads of tv's going on freecycle and or cheap crt's 30"+ for £50 or so .0
